Comment:
Inspired by a group of musicians I overheard acoustically performing "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" in Washington Square Park one evening... who when it was over I then jokingly asked to play "Roundabout", and... they did!! (I should have asked for "Revealing Science of God"!) Doing a Yes mix became particularly pointed when I started reading "Listening to the Future: The Time of Progressive Rock" by Bill Martin. He's absolutely committed to prog as a means of social change, bless his heart, and Yes are clearly his heroes. Hopefully I've gotten at some kind of essence of the group here. ~~lawrence::
Feedback:
Wow, another Yes fan! They actually happen to be one of my three favorite bands of all time (the other two being the Beatles and Led Zeppelin). Well, this is certainly a very interesting mix you've put together, and I think it's cool that you used lesser-known tracks such as "A Venture" and "Sound Chaser." I particularly love "Turn Of The Century," as well. I just so happen to have that book "Listening To The Future" by Bill Martin, as well as his "Music Of Yes: Structure And Vision In Progressive Rock." He's a very good, intelligent writer, and brings a good deal of energy and passion to his discussion of his favorite music and artists.
