Comment:

I've been getting into two newer bands recently - namely, Retribution Gospel Choir and Nico Vega! I saw both of them when they opened shows for the Meat Puppets and Manic Street Preachers, respectively, and I just got both their albums and really like both a lot. Nico Vega is a female-fronted trio from Los Angeles, while Retribution Gospel Choir is the side band of Low singer/guitarist Alan Sparhawk (although in my opinion RGC rocks out a lot harder)!

"Jailhouse Rock" (X 3) - The Elvis Presley movie theme song from '57, plus live covers from ZZ and Motley!

"All I Really Want To Do" (X 2) - The Bob Dylan original, and the Byrds' famous cover version.

"Soul Kitchen" (X 2) - Two cover versions of a Doors classic, from Patti Smith and X.

"Sky Pilot" / "A Girl Named Sandoz" / "When I Was Young" - I don't really have much in my collection by Eric Burdon and the Animals, but I did have the first song on the 2006 "Zodiac" soundtrack, as well as cover versions by the Smashing Pumpkins and Ramones. (BTW, the Animals' version of the second song was originally the B-side of the third song!)

Today's eliminations (#221 - 10/26/09):
Radiohead - "Kid A" (2000)
Perry Farrell - "Rev" [compilation] (1999)
Nirvana - "Incesticide" [compilation] (1992) (I didn't include "(New Wave) Polly," but since I already used the "Nevermind" original, I thought that would suffice...)
Mark Lanegan - "The Winding Sheet" (1990)
Social Distortion - "Somewhere Between Heaven And Hell" (1992)
