Comment:

Sad news, folks: Late '70s American singer/songwriter Willy DeVille has recently passed away from pancreatic cancer last August 6th, at the age of 58. I figured I would pay tribute here with his cover of Johnny Thunders' "You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory." Speaking of which...

"You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory" (X 3) - I included three cover versions of this Johnny Thunders song here - one sung by GN'R's Duff McKagan, one serving as the coda for Hanoi Rocks frontman Michael Monroe's "Too Rich To Be Good" (directed at Motley Crue singer Vince Neil, whose reckless behavior at the wheel cost the life of Hanoi drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley), and of course the third one being the aforementioned Willy DeVille version. (The Duff/GN'R version is kind of interesting in that Duff completely misinterprets the time change from verse to chorus, thereby creating a whole new version of the song - ha, ha, ha!)

"Sequenza Coro E Orchestra" < "Homework" / "Night Flight" - A handful of movie soundtrack pieces that I hadn't used yet...

"Shadow Of Deth" < "My Kingdom" - Call it a wild hunch, but I'm guessing that Megadeth's Dave Mustaine is a big "Excalibur" fan! :-)

Today's eliminations (#222 - 10/28/09):
Guns N' Roses - "The Spaghetti Incident?" (1993)
Aerosmith - "Night In The Ruts" (1979)
