Comment:
It amazes me how many people remain unaware of Rowland S. Howard's hand in the shaping of alternative music today. Despite the inevitable damnation to a life under the megalithic shadow of Nick Cave's oeuvre, he has managed to quietly (or not so) go about his business, working with, and influencing some of the biggest movers and shakers in indie music of the last 20 or so years.Although his latest solo album `Pop Crimes' has kept us waiting 10 years since his last, this compilation (which barely scratches the surface of his body of work) proves Howard has given us all plenty to be grateful for.
I've put these tracks in reverse chronological order. It made sense at the time, and it means the CD finishes with the classic tearjerker 'Shivers', the song Howard wrote when he was but a sweet 16 year old.
Feedback:
I LOVE "some velvet morning" with Lydia. I have put that on so many of my own mixes over the years!
