Comment:

That's right, I'm baaaaaaack!! C'mon, you know you missed me! ;-) I've been out of action around here for almost precisely two months now. After about 227 2-disc mixes (totalling 454 discs!), it eventually got to the point where I was just kind of scraping and throwing stuff together. So I just decided to bide my time until I got myself enough new music and had a more clear and precise idea of what I wanted to include before I put anything new together. That way, what I eventually came up with would be all the more special (hopefully)!

"Vertigogo" - This is the ridiculously catchy theme song for the 1995 anthology comedy "Four Rooms" (consisting of four different stories set in a Los Angeles hotel, directed by four different directors - including Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino - but all starring Tim Roth), written by the group Combustible Edison and featuring some lovably daffy scat-singing from their female lead vocalist!

"Hazy Days" < "You're A Big Girl Now" < "Just Breathe" < "Feels So Good" - I'm rather happy with how this sequence turned out. It flows together quite naturally, I think...

"Anfron (I Desire)" < "Tropopause" < "Love's Dream" - I'm also quite proud of this sequence of tracks. I think the Aragorn/Arwen theme from "The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring" transitions perfectly into the end-credit theme from "Angels In America." And then we have Liszt's "Love's Dream" (with lyrics courtesy of Roger Daltrey) topping it off! Which of course leads us to...

"Love's Dream" < "The Sheik Of Araby" < "Eyesight To The Blind" - Now here we have a three-track reference to the work of a certain film director! Can you guess who that is...? ;-)

"Tirassegno" - Italy's favorite prog-horror maestros Goblin go country-rock! No lie, I swear. And complete with a pedal steel guitar and fiddle, no less! This little instrumental was actually included in the European cut of George A. Romero's "Dawn Of The Dead" (1978), which has the complete Goblin score. This is the song that's playing during the redneck shooting party sequence early in the film.

Today's eliminations (1/19/10):
Mick Ronson - "Play Don't Worry" (1975)
Van Halen - "Best Of Both Worlds" [compilation] (2004)
