Comment:
My how far I have come. I'm not 100 percent sure when this mix was created but I'm pinpointing it from 2003-2004.The so called nu-metal scene at the time was one its way into oblivion with its declining record sales and popularity. Real metal (!) was emerging to the surface and growing bigger and better and heavier. This was an exciting time to be a metalhead. Some of the groups have been around in some form for awhile, but were becoming more known and such. Not every band around this time is on this mix, but I thought the majority of these artists represented a future of metal. They are real bands playing different exciting forms of heavy metal. I'm not going to get into every artist but might as well touch on a few. Mastodon was getting big at the time so they are on here. I loved their sound and I still do. I grew to be a big fan of this band. In fact, I have tickets to see them in April. Watch Them Die had a decent metal sound but where are they now? A shame. Randy from Lamb Of God wore their t-shirt I remember. Martyr AD is probably more hardcore or metalcore than metal but I wanted to listen to them more so they are here. Bodom is on here and I grew to be a big fan of them as well. Recent albums by them are disappointing, sorry to say. A few bands on here were on just for fun and were already established at the time (Cannibal Corpse, MayheM, Fear Factory). Not really the future of metal, but hey...they may have at least influenced the artists on here.
