I love September. . . the beginning of Autumn, the initial cool-down, wearing jackets at night-time, lingering outside to soak up the end of the nice weather. . .

This September was the first proper Autumn on record that I can remember in Chicago. . . usually the chill comes in by the end of the month. Instead, we took only about a 7-15 degree hit in the thermometer.

I spent the time going to North Coast Festival, celebrated my nephew's birthday by injuring myself in a Bouncing Castle, visited the inaugural Sonar Festival in Chicago, saw Wavves, Best Coast, Male Bonding, Titus Andronicus, Free Energy and !!! in concert, and wrapped it all up with a trip to Maryland for Virgin Free Fest where I served drinks to Sleigh Bells and got into a discussion with James Murphy & Joan Jett (music-geek moment to treasure.)

All in all, a great month. . . as for the mix, I had to get some more hip-hop outta my system before returning to my usual indie-rock ways. My absolute favs are Memory Tapes, Wild Nothing, Owen Pallett, Delorean and Robyn.
