Comment:

Gee... who can guess which two Elliott Smith albums I so favor over the others? :-) I must admit that although I've owned Fig. 8 since the day it was released, I have not given it more than three complete listens, so perhaps I'm being a bit unfair to the second half of the album (none of whose tunes I could even begin to hum for you)... I also did an unprecedented thing and included two songs written by Elliott for his former band, Heatmiser, on the grounds that they COULD be solo performances (esp the latter tune, which is formally untitled on the CD, but whose title seems apparent upon listening to it)... Oh well. I'm ready to take the heat for dissing the newer material, oh Elliottphiles... feel free to dish it out. :-)

These are all amazing tunes. Can't give you heat for that. Give Fig 8 a chance though...

The poor guy just went and pulled an Ian Curtis. Very sad. I've long felt he (alongside maybe Lou Barlow) had one of the most soothing voices in indie rock. It's a damn shame.

Really beautiful. I love your opener...and from there It takes off into elliot-loveliness:)
