Comment:

This is the follow-up the Beatles would have recorded to Let It Be. Now working on the nom de plume of the Beatles Recording Collective, the individual Beatles would have agreed to continue to release albums as a "collective," contributing individual or solo contributions on which other members of the Beatles might or might not collaborate. Their first such LP, released in late 1970 and containing many songs we still think of as classics, might have taken its name from the first cut, and would have been called Join the Human Race. This would've been heralded as a return to excellence after the controversial Let It Be, and possibly compared to The White Album due to the vastly different directions the band members were taking.

And in then controversial but magnanimous move, all Beatles agreed to allow contributions--even solo performances--by spouses and girlfriends. On this first outing, the Beatles Recording Collective includes Yoko Ono making her official Beatles record debut with "Why" (with John on blistering guitar and Ringo steady as every on the drum kit).

A rollercoaster of an album created in difficult times...

Cool concept. I think I might have to make a copy of this mix for myself.
