#245 - Go To Work, It's Such A Drag, Face The Boss, He's Such A Nag
Comment:
This mix was originally submitted to Zen Running Order on May 22, 2010. The original notes and/or comments are as follows...Darth Pazuzu (05-22-2010):
"Follow Your Daughter Home" - This one goes out to doowad! ;)
"(There'll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs Of Dover" < "Our Father" < "Daddy" < "War Requiem: Libera Me (Domine)" < "Volcano" - I know of no other way to describe this particular song sequence other than as the work of a "perversely irreverent tragedian"! I don't know...I thought they just seemed to flow really well together, but there's still something a bit...SKEWED about the results! (HEH-HEH-HEH...) (Incidentally, "Volcano" apparently marks the swansong of Canadian metal gods Voivod. Guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour died of cancer back in 2005, and I think the other guys in the band have just about used up all the guitar tracks he left behind on their last two albums. R.I.P....)
"The Job That Ate My Brain" - An originally unintended inclusion, because I needed something to fill in that pesky two-minute gap to shore up DISC #1's running time, and the Ramones (and many other punk bands) are very good at providing help with that! But as it turns out, the song also gave me the perfect overall mix title. (And I defy ANYONE out there to say that there hasn't been some point in their lives where they haven't been able to identify with the sentiment!)
"Another Brick In The Wall" (X 2) -
"Hey, Bobby!"
"What, Dick?"
"If you don't eat your meat, how can you have any pudding?? HOW CAN YOU HAVE ANY PUDDING IF YOU DON'T EAT YOUR MEAT?!?"
[uninterested] "I don't know, Dick..."
"It's Only Rock 'N' Roll (But I Like It)" (X 2) < "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)" - A mix-closing duo that I've been waiting to unleash for quite some time now! (And I also included a rip-roaring live cover of the Stones tune by Twisted Sister, from '82.)
doowad (05-24-2010):
Love that 9-12 run on the first disk.
njr (05-27-2010):
More women artists than your average mix, which gets a thumbs up from me!
