Mix title courtesy of Henry Rollins, by the way. Y'know, just in case you were wondering...! ;)

"(This Could Be) The Last Time" (X 2) - Perhaps such a statement is tantamount to heresy, but I honestly prefer the Who's cover version to the Stones' original. I don't know, perhaps it's the way the key ascends from E to F# - one whole step - for the final verse and chorus repeat that just makes it definitive for me! (That having been said, I think the Who's OTHER Stones cover, "Under My Thumb," is no match at all for the Stones' original!)

"Crabsody In Blue" - Pretty much AC/DC's sequel to "The Jack" (musically and lyrically). Originally from the Australian edition of "Let There Be Rock," but not officially released Stateside until the recent "Backtracks" box set.

"Shelter" - An absolutely heartbreakingly gorgeous song from Cheap Trick's self-titled '97 album. A great pity more people don't know about it...

You were brave to put 2 Boston tracks in a row here.

Darth Pazuzu (06-04-2010):
njr,

For the record, the only time I put more than one track by an artist on one of my mixes is when it's a sequence of tracks that are more or less meant to flow together. For example: "We Will Rock You" < "We Are The Champions" (Queen), "Brain Damage" < "Eclipse" (Pink Floyd), "Long Distance Runaround" < "The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus)" (Yes), "Jaded" < "Brain Stew" (Green Day), etc... And in my judgment, the Boston instrumental "The Journey" is more or less the prelude to "It's Easy," which is the actual song.

Another time when I put two different songs by the same artist on the same mix is when it's a "Part 1" or "Part 2" sort of situation, and quite often I split them between the two discs. Sometimes I also apply a bit of subjective license here! One time, I put both of Metallica's Discharge covers ("Free Speech For The Dumb" and "The More I See") on the same mix, in bookending positions - one near the beginning, one near the end! :)

But I wouldn't just put any two songs in a row by the same artist on one of my mixes. For example, it would be a violation of my self-imposed rules if I were to put both Boston's "Don't Look Back" and "Let Me Take You Home Tonight" back-to-back! :)

Love that Stones song.
