Darth Pazuzu (08-31-2010):
Well, here's my THIRD all brand-spanking new offering in less than a week. I've kind of been on a roll lately, as you can plainly see... :)

"Siegfried's Funeral March" < "Theme" & "Alternate End Titles From Excalibur" - A few months back, I obtained a copy of the soundtrack for John Boorman's "Excalibur" (1981), with a mixture of an original score by Trevor Jones (his first, if I'm not mistaken) and appropriate classical cues from Richard Wagner and Carl Orff. Here are the main themes, which I used to bookend this mix. Or - in the case of Trevor Jones' cues - the INTENDED main themes. Boorman had Jones compose a main theme in the event that he might use it in the film, but he opted to use Wagner's "Siegfried's Funeral March" from "Gotterdammerung" instead...

"King Of Rock And Roll" - Another of my tributes to the late, lamented metal legend Ronnie James Dio. (R.I.P.) It's only highly appropriate that it's placed right after the opening "Excalibur"/King Arthur sequence, right...? :-)

"String Man" < "This Man Is Mine" < "Locked In" - The Mamas & The Papas < Heart < Judas Priest...A little joke sequence that formed rather quite spontaneously in my mind! I didn't know I was going to put these particular tracks in this particular order until just before I did. Well, at least I think it's rather amusing... ;)

"You're Not The One (I Was Looking For)" < "Just What I Needed" - An interesting little backstory here! When Blue Oyster Cult was recording their Mirrors album in 1979, drummer Albert Bouchard composed a little ditty called "You're Not The One (I Was Looking For)" - partially derived from the Cars' "Just What I Needed" - mainly as a silly little joke at producer Tom Werman's expense, because he didn't really think too highly of Werman. However, this little joke kind of got out of hand and it ended up on the album! I include both songs back to back here, so people can compare...

njr (08-31-2010):
You're spoiling us with all these new mixes, T.! Like the movie soundtrack starters for each set, er, I mean, disk!

Mr. Mirage (09-01-2010):
Oh. Yes. Most definitely up my alley.

RichardB (09-01-2010):
Very interesting indeed, and like that Mama and Papas run

doowad (09-04-2010):
I always like your classical flourishes and that timeless classic from the Flamingos is my favorite on this or any mix.
