Before, I was just a normal blues singer. I was just Jay Hawkins. It all sort of just fell in place. I found out I could do more destroying a song and screaming it to death."

I have an ancient MP3 player. The Creative Zen Nomad Xtra from 2003. Mine is a 40GB model which has been modified with a replacement 120GB hard drive. I have over 17,000 tracks on it. I use it almost exclusively in shuffle mode.

Oftentimes it will play a tune, and then follow it up with a track that is so crazy opposite of the previous that I dub this situation "aesthetic whiplash". For example, the segue from Infected Mushroom to The Ventures - which did actually happen, and was the direct inspiration for the mix.
