Comment:

For the most part, Johnny Cash stayed close to home when it came to artists he covered. Not only was Kris Kristofferson a personal friend, but one of Nashville's (or anywhere's) most-covered songwriters. Similarly, Tim Hardin had a golden moment in the late '60s, when his songs were on the setlist of every folkie. Where it gets interesting is during the American Recordings years, where the likes of Nine Inch Nails showed up cheek-by-jowl with Hank Williams.
