Comment:
Made when I really wanted someone to make a special mix for, but didn't have anyone for whom to do so. Instead, I made "a mix for no one I can think of": something that would articulate who I was, introduce whoever ended up getting it to some cool stuff, and satisfy my urge to craft something well. As you can see from the song selection, I was in a bit of a bitter, tense emotional state at that point, although I still had a sense of humor about things, and I still had an appreciation for a little beauty. As luck would have it, I ended up talking to some girl Sarah about Elliott Smith the next day, so she got the tape. She enjoyed it and showed it off to some of her friends, who also thought it was just great, so it was a success. Spreading a little joy in the world was a great solace in a rather miserable time. Also, notice that the last 3 songs on side A were added for novelty purposes; I miscalculated the length badly, so I added some lighter stuff.Feedback:
Great mix
Wow you were able to put something AFTER Desolation Row? I didn't think it could be done...
I'm just crazy that way. There's a part of me that likes to throw in a "you can't do THAT" moment on a mix whenever I can. You should see the one where I alternate Metallica/Nick Drake/Captain Beefheart...the recipient laughed for 5 minutes straight!
perfect. perfect. and with my favorite leonard cohen song.
beee-yootiful. I would like to get to know you, based on this, so I guess you did a good job of articulating SOMETHING. . .
HA! That's the first thing I thought too: "Desolation Row" as the *second* to last song? Too many good picks to name.
