Comment:
As my friend Sean said when he introduced me to Gram's music in 1992, "He could sing ANYTHING and I'd believe him." That sums up Gram's appeal more than anything else I can think of. Few vocalists can break my heart in pieces with the turn of a phrase, but Gram is one of them. (Now, thinking about that list, Chet Baker may have a disc due to him soon...)Feedback:
It's been almost 30 years since Gram Parsons died and he is still having an enormous influence on rock and country. This is a nice collection of his best work.
rob. i must have this to live. my lord...
This is great.
nice work.
A great, great mix. Nice job.
gram's the man, but let's not forget emmylou. she makes that record as much as he does.
Rob -- this is a good mix.
What strikes me about Gram is that his music must have been so groundbreaking at the time it was released. Now, of course, almost every country act has incorporated Gram's influences into their sound. Before Gram came along, every country act (except my personal favorite, Faron Young) sounded like Porter Wagoner.

fantastic Robert...
Good Grief this is Good Gram!
Gram is amazing, he is probably my favorite singer. It's still hard to believe he was in his early 20s during most of these recordings. The guy died at 26 and has a pretty big discography and worked with a lot of great musicians and influenced tons of country musicians and rock musicians. Apparently Gram and Emmylou only knew each other for one year! The fact that they managed to record so many beautiful songs together is amazing in itself.
The only thing I'd do differently is include the Byrds' "You're Still on My Mind." That song rules...
