I've actually thought about doing a similar mix, so I could suggest a few songs: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's "Chicago" (about the Democratic Nat'l. Convention of 72 (?))and "Ohio" (about the Kent State shootings), Cold Chisel's "Khe Sanh" (about Vietnam), Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" (plenty of commentary on all types of political/social corruption). Sorry, none of this is all that recent, but hope it helps.

lucynsky, the Dem Convention you seem to be referring to was in 1968- riots, police brutality and so forth. Bill Clinton was arrested there....

Ok, I'm not as good at this but ummm... How about Tracy Chapman "Talkin' About A Revolution"? And maybe "Reparations" by Sekou Sundiata. Well I suppose it's not too political but it's good. I think it's more about racism. And the only other songs I can think of are all Ani songs.
