In 1970, the young Michael Jackson, fronting the Jackson 5, charmed America with three chart-topping hits: "ABC," "I Want You Back," and "I'll Be There." On the darker side of pop, Randy Newman's "Mama Told Me Not To Come" was covered by Three Dog Night and went to #1. But the biggest song of the year came from Simon & Garfunkel, whose "Bridge Over Troubled Water" sat atop the Pop chart for six weeks.
