[i]The Hoople[/i] (1974) marked Ian Hunter's farewell, but he went out in style with album cuts like "Born Late '58," a deliciously raunchy laundry list of feminine attributes nailed to a dirty-old-man hook that's just as sinful. The track joins a handful of shoulda-beens, like [i]All the Young Dudes[/i]' "Momma's Little Jewel," another lip-smacking ode to a leggy young stunner; and a hearty dose of solo Ian — including the martial drums and orchestral sweep of "Boy," whose subject remains a source of debate, and the pretty-ugly grind-rocker "The Truth, the Whole Truth, Nuthin' But the Truth."
