Comment:
Not meant to be a definitive 80s mix, but a not bad little collection of various 80s sounds... some of which I remember fondly from the period itself (PhD, OMD, Hunters & Collectors, New Order), and others I didn't discover until much later. Likely there'll be another 80s mix from me sometime soon...Feedback:
Nice!!!
Thank you so much for making a GOOD 80s tape. I am so sick of these child of the 80s types--most 80s music is CRAP. I grew up in the 80s and I don't remember anything particularly staggering about the music, until a mix like this one comes along. It could use some Minutemen and the Smiths though...
I echo the words Of Brandt. As a person who was 16-26 during that decade, I cringe at the way the decade is being "re-written" by folks suffering from amnesia. I am plagued by this 80's revivial with radio formats ushering nostalgia way too soon for my likes. Thankfully a person like you can make a crank like me feel somewhat nostalgic in the right way. Good job.
Unfortunately Casetta, it's being written by my peers who went from young childhood to adolescence in that decade. It breaks my hear when my younger brother says something like "Check out this Tiffany CD I picked up." After I am done throwing up, I feel like beating his ass...
Don't have any Minutemen or Smiths, sorry, Brandt, otherwise I'd look into including them. I kind of was a child of the 80s myself, but was mostly into the more above-ground mainstream pop of the time. Didn't discover some of the other interesting things from that decade until much later on.
I too am perturbed by what is happening to what I'd call "our music" (I think I'm around the same age as Casetta), so this tape is cool. Also check out the mix called "schoolin' the youngins" by bill harris - it's also quite good (& I have a copy!)
