Comment:
Inspired by "Southernmost" on the Luckmiths T-Shirt Weather EP--I realized that there were many recordings in my collection that for one reason or another were the same song, by the same band but different released recordings. I decided to make a tape that was identical on both sides but with the different recorded versions (I disqualified live recordings, outtakes like in the Beatles Anthology, and remixes.) I also included the source of recording. Other notes: Both versions of the Yo La Tengo track are on the same LP (Painful) and lest anyone thinks I cheated with Man and Superman, the Orange Peels are Allen Clapp and His Orchestra when they are recording in a studio and not on a four track in a church basement. Enjoy!Feedback:
Intriguing... Which side do you prefer?
That's a good question! I'm really not sure, but I tend to lean toward side 2...which i find interesting because I always put the "later" recording on side B. I think it's more a song by song basis--the Holiday Flyer song on Darla 100 is very stripped down and I love it so much more than its counterpart and yet the later version of Southernmost has more instrumentation than the original and I realize that I like it more--which is kind of what started this mess in the first place...
