Comment:
The Bruce Willis Seal of Approval Mix inspired me to dig (very) deep into my franco-pop and create, well, quite the strange mix. Some of the songs have some English lyrics, but most are more than 90%.NOTE: I have updated this mix again, because I am ever the perfectionist.
Feedback:
Oh, forgive me, I did not realize that the accents I put on the titles would not be recognised. Track 6 is Gros Zero, Track 11, by Paul Piche, is Ne Fais pas Ca, and Track 14 is called Le Cote Obscure de la Force
MC Solaar is one of the best hip hop artists of all time. this mix? c'est incroyable.
My love of Stereolab has made me want to learn French. So, this mix of French pastries looks quite tasty. Great job. Sometimes, I think it would be nice to know what Stereolab is saying. Sometimes, it adds to the mystique not knowing.
I throw all of my support behind this mix, both for its good quebec content, and because charlie (the bruce willis mix author) is my roommate. il va capoter!
Jorge: You can find translations for Stereolab songs on the internet, but they aren't always complete or entirely accurate. The poetry and brilliance of the lyrics, however, does come through, and is worth a look.
Quarantined: I agree. McSolaar is brilliant. I also love his songs Obsolete and Prose Combat, but Bouge de La was the first one I ever heard (when I was 12) and it, above all else, had to go on this one.

This looks very cool, Ginger. May I suggest a trade?
For various reasons, I cannot trade a hard copy of this mix for at least 3 weeks, though if people are still interested in August, let me know. (I am living somewhere else for the summer with few belongings and fewer CDs.)
Jonathan, might I suggest you make a pure Quebecois mix? I am more familiar with music from France.

Ginger,
I tried that once--looking up the lyrics for a stereolab song. It was "Miss Modular," my favorite. I've now decided I like not knowing what they are singing about. It takes some of the magic out of it.

Anything with Dan "the man" Lanois is okay in my book.
