Gorgeous music... The Blue Nile are brilliant (though not exactly prolific; they've been averaging one new album every 4 or 5 years, and they're about due for a new one now). I agree with conventional wisdom that 'Hats' is their masterpiece (and, according to recent British music magazine polls, one of the greatest albums of the last 20 years), which is why it's included here in its entirity... However, I do NOT agree that the debut album is anywhere nearly as wonderful, which is why I only used (slightly edited versions of) two songs from it. To compensate, both sides of their first single (I Love This Life) are here, along with The Wires Are Down (the Downtown Lights b-side). I like their most recent album (Peace At Last)... It's no Hats, but it has some great moments, and I believe I included all of them (5 songs - exactly half the album). This is all the Blue Nile I'll probably ever need... Unless (dare to dream) they release a new album...
