Comment:

The one-time jester-prince of trip-hop has yet to top his debut album Maxinquaye (it is with great restraint that I only used 5 songs from it here), but there have been a couple of keepers from every album he's done since, and I admit to having a soft spot for his Nearly God album (hence the iclusion of four songs from it). I still haven't decided whether his new album Blowback is a brilliant return to form, a sellout, or a little of both, but I threw in 5 tracks from it to help me make up my mind. A month from now I'll probably regret not including more Maxinquaye material, but after giving this a couple of test spins, it coheres surprisingly well... And no matter how many times I hear it, "I Sing For You" still sends chills down my spine.

I guess I would've mixed this up a bit more. On the other hand, I liked PMT quite a bit.
As to Blowback, it sure isn't Maxinquaye, but it isn't Angles either.

Nice, nice, nice, nice, nice, nice, nice. *Excellent* job. I stopped buying his albums after ANgels With Dirty Faces, but I have a soft spot for his earlier stuff. WHat about some of the stuff he did with Massive Attack?
