Comment:

A bit too low-key for the masses, she's probably my favorite indie singer-songwriter of the last decade. I admire the way she follows her muse whichever direction it takes her (lo-fi, ambient techno, retro-60's pop) with a rare balance of subtlety, sophistication, songcraft and humor. While still enjoyable, I have slightly mixed feelings about some of her more recent electronica forays (hence the paucity of songs from her last two albums), but her last attempt at a straightforward pop record (Fly Stereophonic) became one of my favorite albums of the 90's (which is why almost every song on it made the cut). Those interested should check out her (enlightening and amusing) new website (www.lidahusik.com) for the full story. The cover image is a photo-shopped inverse of Waterhouse's 'Siren.'

A nice mix of songs by one of my favorite female artists as well. She should be as popular as Liz Phair (another one of my favorites) or Ani what's-her-name. I'll check out the Lida Husik website.
