Comment:

This is part of a tape swap with bethanee, who asked that I make her a "crushy" sort of tape. (I would claim this is Ultimate Crush Tape v. 1.6) Since I don't have a crush on anyone presently, I had to find inspiration. For some reason I remembered that when I used to work in downtown Cleveland that there was this cute girl that I would always see on trains and buses that even if I deviated from my usual bus/train usage (by taking another route) she was there. So this is for that cute girl and every other cute girl on trains, in bars, busses and bookstores that I don't seem to have the balls to smile at and say "hi."

I'm in totally the same situation, obsessed with a stranger on the train. I've been trying to make a mix that sums up my feelings for awhile now, but it's tough! Nice mix, especially The Hollies and Lovin' Spoonful.

Commuter Love by The Divine Comedy would go well on this mix too.

Lovely mix. I've used a few of these in my time... and trust me, I can relate to the whole crush on strangers thing.

They have to be strangers before they can be lovers or friends right?

That's the idea. :-)

It's that whole moving from strangers to more than strangers that sucks! What's a shy girl to do when she's got a crush on a shy guy and she has no lead to strike up a conversation and that would be terribly hard to do anyway because they both are always wearing headphones?

You do the same thing I do. You think "what if...", shrug and keep drinking your pint. I'm just not a master at coy looks and smiles (hence the addition of the brilliant Tiger Trap song Words and Smiles. If I could get them out, it would be like a dream come true!)

ahhh...stranger crushes. fun and games. i always think of blanche dubois and "I have always depended on the kindness of strangers". so true, a guy on a tram is always more likely to take you seriously when you're in tears with mascara EVERYWHERE and having issues with your mobile phone that your best friend. nice mix, again!

Mmm, this is a great idea for a mix, and I love so many of the songs. And though nobody asked, my favorite song in this genre(if you will) is "Skyway" by the Replacements. Sums it up perfectly.
