I could be in Love with almost everyone
Comment:
Part of my unofficial "crazed genius" series (Arthur Lee being the crazed genius in question here; Bryan Maclean, his more Zen-like alter ego) and one of my favorite discs that I've done. There's nothing I can say about the beauty that is Forever Changes (all but two songs included here) that has not been said before, and I think the other two albums represented here are almost as phenomenal. And hey, all you Love purists: sorry that I didn't feature anything by any line-up beyond the originals, but ya know... they were just never as good again. I am, however, wanting to trade with someone who has Arthur's version of "Five String Serenade" on disc (along with a CD burner to burn me a copy)... keep me posted, please. And yes, I understand that there's nothing revolutionary about my song selection.Feedback:
Screw the frozen embryos. I'm mounting a movement against anything medical science does to alter the "crazed genius" genome. Excellent selections, as usual, Rob. An outsider/eccentric series could go on indefinetly. I'd like to sign up for a lifetime subscription right now. You've picked 2 giants to start with. Now that we have Prozac & have banned dodge ball where will the future tortured artists come from?
2 giants? You're forgetting Nick Drake, Scott Walker and (arguably) Tom Waits... :-)
oooh - clicked on this due to the title, great mix, once again.
Eccentric series. Indeed, so many to place. I do plan a sequal to The letter Ee edition of Rock Snob Encyclopedia.
Whoa, Casetta... I haven't fully committed to said series. lol I merely said it was "unofficial". And please don't think I'm treading on your Encyclopedia...
No not at all, was admiring the mix and reminded me to do a much needed sequal.
mmm...bummer in the summer and you set the scene are two of my favorite songs. cool.
Can't believe I never commented on this mix. I finally decided to put "Forever Changes" in my top 50 recently, even though I've been very familiar with the album for about 15 years. 16 and 19 are particular favorites. And 10 is a recent favorite.
I just noticed this mix is missing "Andmoreagain." Say it ain't so!
