An underrated 90's alternative band that never quite caught on (outside a cult following) despite a strong early buzz (and a minor MTV hit video)... They started out a rough & ragged alt-pop band, then briefly became a dead ringer for Velocity Girl until they lost their major label contract and started incorporating elements of trip hop into their sound. Sadly, by the time they released their fourth and final (and overall best) album 'Hello June Fool' in 1999, alt-rock had once again been restricted to college radio playlists. This collection chronologically compiles 4 or 5 tracks from each of their albums, and throws in a couple of cover songs from an early single and a mid-90's EP. The songwriting (mostly by guitarist Billy Cote) holds up throughout, and it's interesting to hear the evolution and maturity of both the band's sound and Mary Lorson's vocal skills. Worth investigating further.
