Pigtradmusik is loosly translated as Dutch for "Barbed-Wire music". While the recent Nuggets II boxset touched on a few of the European garage/beat bands the primary focus was on England( Yeah I know England is part of Europe, you get my drift). Inside this tape you will discover the "Dutch Stones", "The Swedish Pretty Things", "The German all Girl Beatles" and even the "Swiss Kinks" (we left the Brits back on the island, except for those who relocated). Raw and primative, snarly and ugly. Lets not forget it was Hamburg not Liverpool or London that really kicked the whole "Beat-music" craze into gear. Some groups are England transplants, others natives of the country they recorded in. ABBA fans may want to take note of The Hep Stars version of Surfin Bird, for it features Benny Andersson. It is more Cramps (way psychotic) than Abba.
