An underrated voice-bass-piano trio that never quite received its due. Three albums... the third of which ('Comet'), insultingly, never got an official release (though I was fortunate enough to stumble upon a CDR of it in a NYC bargain bin)... This mix is split more-or-less evenly between material from each of the three albums... Stylistically, there's not much difference, but the quality of the songwriting and performances are consistantly high throughout... "Plant Me" and "Hard Lesson" each got a smattering of alt-rock and college radio support, but not as much as they deserved. "Plant Me" sounds just as gorgeous now as it did when I first heard it a decade ago.
Feedback:
Lida Husik and now this. You champion some great underrated artists/bands. I guess their unique piano-driven sound didn't catch on with radio programmers. Nice find on the unreleased third album CDR. Perhaps I could trade for a copy some day.
Let me give this some respect a year later. The unreleased 3rd album? Damn! Do you have the unreleased 2nd Fossil album, too? ; )
