Something you might hear driving from community to community in the Los Angeles area with your car window down on a summer night: Reggae, Latin jazz, rock, Latin rock, old jazz, a little dancey pop. All the stuff here has sort of the same tempo / beat with a percussive kinda thing going. The instrumental highlights would be Auger's organ solo and Stan Getz on tenor. I'm a sucker for Stan Getz.
