Comment:

I titled this mix 'Directionless' but it's not really... It's a twisting road that veers in and out of jazz and alternative and indie rock (with a quick pitstop in classic rock)... This is the first various artists mix I've submitted in quite some time... The Steely Dan song is from a bootleg of middling sound quality, but it's worth hearing because it's non-LP (written for the grammy- winning 'Two Against Nature' but it didn't make the cut). The Henry Rollins thing is from Hal Wilner's 'Weird Nightmare' Charles Mingus tribute. The Beat Happening track is the A-side of their one-off reunion singe (their first new release in nearly a decade). The Foo Fighters track is an ace Gary Newman cover from the X-Files 'Songs In the Key of X' album. The (guilty pleasure) Rush(!) track is maybe their most straightforward, least pretentious early creation (from their second album Fly By Night). The long live version of Brubeck and his band doing his signature song 'Take Five' is from an excellent (and, sadly now out-of-print)live album, not a bootleg. The Lois Maffeo song is from a 4-band split 7-inch. The Bela song is from a Mother West compilation CD. The Lida Husik song is a Dentists cover (from her Joyride album)... Oh, and the cover art background is Warhol's 'Moon Explorer' silkscreen.
