Comment:

Not much to say here... A very good band indeed... It's a shame that after all the time, talent, critical praise and record-label muscle to make these girls famous, they wound up with exactly one top-40 hit ("Naked Eye")... I shouldn't bitch I suppose; tons of equally talented acts don't even get THAT much... I'm not sure whether or not the band is still together, but oddly enough, this is one act where I don't think I'd mind so much i they DID break up: the albums by the various members' side projects Dusty Trails and (especially) the Kostars have been (in my opinion) better than the last few LJ releases... Anyway, this comp takes a handful of tracks from all three of their albums, the debut EP, plus one non-LP track ("Radiating"). There's one more non-album song that I like quite a bit, but didn't have quite enough room for, called "Roses Fade" (I believe it's on the soundtrack for the film 'The Saint')... The cover is another Goldsworthy creation.

wow, Jill Cuniff, Gabby Glaser, Kate Schellenbach were the shit. Nope they are not together anymore. These are all good songs. Jill appears on the Beasties "Hello Nasty." Kate played drums on Beasties "Polywog Stew" and "Cooky Puss" eps.

I Love the Kostars album, 'Klassics with a K' (on of my favorite albums of the 90's list), but I didn't include anything from it here for 2 reasons: 1) It would be too difficult to narrow it down to just one or two highlights, and 2) Exactly which of the above 22 songs would you say are expendable? ;-)
