Comment:
Part 1 of a 3-disc trade with a member of Pitchfork's messageboards. Susumo Yokota is a recent discovery, but he's been recording since the early eighties. Mainly known overseas for his dj/acid house/techno music, most all the stuff available stateside is more abstract/ambient--at times, reminiscent of Eno or Cluster. This was put together in chronological order starting with his first release on Leaf (Image 1983 - 1998) all the way up through his most recent (Grinning Cat). Four albums in 2 years. Abstract, spherical, mesmerizing, disorienting, reflective, scattershot...on a plane of existence somewhere between melting and floating.Feedback:
sounds gorgeous !
