Comment:

Chances are, if you haven't heard of this band then you're probably not Canadian. The Tragically Hip have been one of the biggest groups in Canada since the late 80's. I've been a big fan of theirs for a few years now but I'm not as big a fan as my older cousin. At his wedding the traditional wedding march song was replaced with a Hip song, I thought that was pretty sweet. If you haven't heard of this band, check them out, they're a great band and in my opinion they're one of the best bands that most people haven't heard of.

I'm a huge Hip fan too and I love your mix! Only ommissions that I can't believe you didn't include are a couple of their 'slower' tracks: Fiddler's Green and Wheat Kings. BTW, what do you think of Downie's solo album?

Funny story here, ok, I was just reading the comments and I read the one about songs like Wheat Kings being left out and I was thinking "what the hell, Wheat Kings is on this mix!" then I read the list and realised that for some reason I had put Happy Hour in place of Wheat Kings, but Happy Hour is actually Little Bones. Weird. I guess that's what happens when you're typing up a mix while drinking a few Molson's. Chances are I'm gonna make another Hip mix because the Hip have way too many good songs, one CD just won't cut it.

Sweet mix...let's hear from a few Americans who know the Hip! There must be some...I'm a Canadian of course, and Gord Downie's solo cd is excellent! (check out the book as well)

Hey! I'm an American and I love the Hip! A Canadian friend introduced me to them about 6 years ago and I've got most of their albums but it's my sister who's the even bigger fan. She's seen them live about 4 times here in California, and together we saw them play a teensy, tiny banquet hall in San Luis Obispo on the tour for Trouble at the Henhouse for $10. There was no barrier between the crowd dof roughly 100 and the stage, which was only about 12-18 inches off the ground, adn we were able to dance comfortably right up front all night long. It was simply incredible to see a band we love so much in such an intimate setting, and all my Canadian friends hate me for it, too. =)

The Hip RULE! I guarantee that I am their biggest fan (and quite possibly their only fan) in Utah. I've seen them in concert 9 times with hopefully #10 coming next month when the band plays at the Univ. of Utah for the canadian olympic team. I'm hoping to sneak in/bribe my way in somehow. I've met the band several times. maybe they will remember me. nice guys!
