One thing is certain: the Minutemen certainly remained true to the aesthetic of their name, specializing in short, sharp bursts of song that had enough twists in their 50 seconds to outsmart any listener. These fellas were a key part of my '80s high school experience and I have no idea where I'd be without them today. God save D. Boon. God bless the Minutemen. (And yeah, I changed the title back; the other one just wouldn't do.)Feedback:
While I much prefer the Mats and Husker Du to the Minutemen, "Double Nickels On The Dime" is a great album--one I stupidly lost years ago and haven't yet replaced. Nice job.
I prefer the Huskers to the Minutemen, but not the Mats...
How do you make a single artist mix of a band who's every note is essential? Great mix, but it depresses me to see this & consider that there's never going to be enough bands who exhibit the Minutemen's intelligence & earthiness. Just last week I saw a clip of Watts giving a very heartfelt justification for selling 'This Ain't No Picnic' to some auto-maker (which, until then, I was unaware of) to raise funds for D's ailing & uninsured dad.
