Comment:
I'm putting on a show in a few weeks so I need to make some tapes to play between sets. The bands are both somewhat in the Hawkwind mold (especially the headliners who have ten members including two drummers, an accordionist and a guy playing processed electronics a la Dik Mik), so there's a bit of a space rock/hard psychedelia undercurrent. I haven't made volume one yet. That one will be mostly blues/old time music to be played before the early set which will be idiot savant blues music played by yours truly.Feedback:
This is completely sweet. I wish places around here played music this good between bands...
Incredible mix! Don't leave me in suspense, who are these Hawkwind-esque bands you're playing with?
Nice - I second Mr Conroy's comments...
Once again, a tasty mix. As Lo-fi jr. has stated below....Who are these bands. Inquiring music junkies need to know.
My apologies for the vagueness. The bands are Bat Eater and Unitard. Unitard is a quartet (quintet, possibly... I was pretty hopped up on goofballs last time I saw them) who were originally called Live Evil (a name I prefer) and briefly considered calling themselves Mockwind. The basic line-up is drummer, bassist/guitarist and two keyboards and the music is mostly instrumental. Bat Eater is the aforementioned 10 piece. They're sort of a supergroup, as they consist of elements of various other local bands that only get together once every 6-months or so to play special occasions (the upcoming show will be their second). The members are drawn from various local bands, primarily The Nasty On, The Cinch and Notes From Underground, but also Vancouver Nights, Satina Saturnina and Dirtmitts. Last show they played opened and closed with a cover of "Silver Machine" and was so heavy on the smoke machine that you couldn't see the band unless you stood inside of the massive cloud in front of the stage. I've written up a press release for the show. I'll e-mail it to you all, but not right now, cuz I gotta run...
