You may know her as the tear-prone presence seated between Randy "Dawg" Jackson and Simon "Scowl" Cowell, but Southern California-born Paula Abdul was a dance-pop idol herself in the '80s. So, what would Judge Abdul think of Pop Star Abdul? Well, as a singer the former Laker Girl/Janet Jackson choreographer was always a great dancer. But it was never really about the singing, and as the era's dance-pop goes, such Abdul smashes as "Straight Up" and "Opposites Attract" were nothing short of wildly catchy, with eye-candy videos to match. No, Paula Abdul may not have transcended the genre à la Madonna, but these songs retain all of their pleasures — guilty or otherwise.
