this is a tape for mel, who i can only best describe as my girlfriend (it was an eventful weekend, what can i say?) of course, i have done nothing but think about her since we met, and i had to fight every urge to not make her a crush tape (but she already knows how i feel and i have a pretty good idea where she stands as well.) anyway, she doesn't know much about the stuff i listen to, but is really eager to find out, so i am giving her this. also, i am going to make her go see some of these bands with me (quasi, shannon wright, rainer maria, aloha, churchbuilder, momus and bis) so i thought i'd make her a bit of a primer. and in closing, the new barcelona LP rules (the only thing i've heard better lately is mates of state.)
