Comment:
31) Drinking and Driving. Once again, not much to say about these folks. Although I generally prefer both Keith Morris' and Chavo's vocals to Rollins', I have a real weakness for the My War and Slip It In albums, which is reflected in my song selection. When listing songs which have been re-recorded by up to three incarnations of the band, I've indicated the lead vocalist in brackets for clarification.Feedback:
Black Flag were the first punk band I recall coming to town & doing an all-ages gig. They likely stand as the top band in my concert resume. Over time, I've tried my damndest to dislike their morphing into a dreaded punk/metal act & Rollins' tortured macho posturing, but then Greg Ginn puts the hammer down. EEEEHAAAAHOOOOW! Never could figure out what the fuck he was playing through.
oh. my. I. want. another trade?
Rollins - can take him or leave him, but like the Flag overall. Last month, here in Perth, one record store was promoting the new Rollins band album - with a naked girl in the window of the store with dollar bills covering her bits! You can imagine what kind of traffic there was on the street for that week!
MY WAR was one of my first two punk albums (the other one was FRESH FRUIT..). The other Black Flag stuff I had was from the BLASTING CONCEPT comps. I had to order the SST records through the mail because no one near me sold that stuff. I remember sending off money orders to Lawndale, CA for $12 for a couple of Ep's and some stickers. Great comp there. I like all their stuff really, except for maybe the very end.. Their slow stuff (MY WAR side 2) was definately in influcence on the Melvins.
