Comment:
Volume two. I just wanted to mention how much it pained me to cut "One Million Billionth of a Millisecond on a Sunday Morning", "Shaved Gorilla", "Thanks to You", "Placebo Headwound", "Shine On Sweet Jesus", "Race for the Prize", "Slow Nerve Action", "Chosen One" (yes, the fine Bill Callahan composition) and "Little Drummer Boy" (yes, the Christmas carol) from these mixes. Rob, incredible job here. I would've had difficult narrowing it down to just two mixes, not even considering the possibility of a single mix. Agreed. Wayne Coyne is a god. Just about everything they've done is sheer genius. One song that was left off (and not mentioned in your list of honorables) was "Slow Nerve Action." At varying times, it has stood atop the list of my favorite Lips songs ever. I'm interested in your thoughts on Zaireeka as well. Overall, I just have to say these are the best Flaming Lips primers I've seen.
I love both "Slow Nerve Action" (which I will add to the honorables now) and Zaireeka. The problem with putting anything from Zaireeka on this, however, is that I have yet to undertake my project of assembling four CD players, my 8-track digital recorder, and my friend's minidisc player to mix the whole thing into one disc... when I do, I'll let you know, if you're interested. :-) And yeah, this ranks among my most daunting projects... going through their catalog last night, I came to realize that almost every one of their songs is worth considering for these comps. Otherwise, I've got to admit after listening to them today that I'm really pleased with how they came out. Thanks for the props, bofus.
Rob, although I'm sorry to say I don't know a huge amount about the Lips, this mix looks great!
With Zaireeka, couldn't you just copy all the tracks from all the discs to your hard drive and them mix the tracks together in something like Goldwave?
looking forward to her them
