Well it's got the splendid HP Lovecraft on it. This automatically makes it good. Where does that Grateful Dead combination come from?
After spinning some Acid Mothers Temple & Electric Wizard, I was also in the mood for some old fashioned psyche-out. If you haven't already, check out a zine called The Galactic Zoo Dossier. A indisposable reference for all things fuzzy that also comes with guitar hero trading cards & a flipped out CD.
Galactic Zoo Dossier is a mighty fine zine (along with Terrastock)for thing fuzzy. As for the Dead track. It dates from 3/16/68 in San Francisco, predating the similiar raging beast that appears on Live/Dead (where St. Stephen is meshed in between Dark Star and The Eleven). Dark Star and China Cat are in the embryonic stages so you get all this cool passages in and out. The track is available on the So Many Roads collection.
