Comment:
I know it sounds pretty corny, but after the WTC tragedies, the thing I kept thinking was "Wouldn't it be great if Superman really existed?"Feedback:
I'm suprised Five For Fighting wasn't on this! Great mix though....
Oh, that's nice. I have to question the Donovan song though. Come on Dave, that's just crazy.
Hey, what about Superman by REM. That song rocks my socks.
Darn, I was working on a mix like this--though not in the context of Sept 11th...nice work!
Dave: this rocks, and you echoed my 9/11 sentiments precisely. Did you consider "That's Really Super, Supergirl" by XTC? The original of "Superman" by REM was an obscure B-side done by "The Clique" (!) in 1969. Could be worth hunting down. Likewise, a wee bit of cheese for your consideration is "Superman" by Lynn Anderson (famous for the truly cheesy "I Never Promised You A Rose Garden" in the early 70's). Otherwise: great.
hey-What about "superman" by unwritten law?
I know there were lots of great songs I could have picked...Laurie Anderson's "O Superman" would have been another obvious choice, but I can't stand that song. One I'm really kicking myself over not including is Genesis' "Land of Confusion" ("Oh, Superman, where are you now?") Thanks for all of your nice comments. I had no idea that REM's "Superman" was a cover. Thanks for the tip, Mac.
Excellent sentiment, and great choices.
