Comment:
Yeah. It's ska. It's happy. I needed the pick-me-up. Ska has a penchant for that...Feedback:
big d and the kids table are super cool
ah. i hate to be one of those kids who scream "that's not ska!" but ah, that's how i feel. it's ska influenced but not the good old 60's stuff. toots and the maytals will learn ya. again, i don't mean to be an ass. heh. yeah i'll stop now.
Well then, what would you like me to call it? Either ways, that's YOUR opinion. Music is subjective and means different things to different people. To me, that IS ska. It may not mean ska to you, but that doesn't make it any less ska to me.
And, to be perfectly honest, I can't really stand "old school ska" (how the bands you've listed are defined by myself). I know who they are and I've tried that shoe on. It was rather uncomfortable. :) But yeah...there was no "ass"-ness in that message. You were only stating your opinion.

See, this is the thing. I like you mix but when something is Ska its ska and when something is trying to imitate and somehow impersonate ska, thats a different story. Toots and the Maytals are real ska and most of these bands would be considered, speaking genre-wise, a spin of of ska but not quite ska. But you are correct, it is merely an opinion. But, may I add that I am married to someone in one of the bands that you have in your mix and he would like to add that although flattered by you reference to his band's music as ska, he really doesn't think it does true ska justice to put the two in the same boat. Feel me? Blessings.
Ugh...now see this is where I hate the hold ups people have about labels. Alright...so it doesn't do "true" ska justice. So it's not "real" ska. I wasn't around for that "real" ska so to me this is real. Besides...what else would I call it? New wave ska? I don't know. Labels are dumb in the first place but I believed that fit the best. Done arguing. (Sorry for the meanness of this. I just got out of surgery so I'm quite the cranky one. :))
