Comment:
Done by request for my roommate's birthday (which has just passed in the last hour). I'd been kicking the idea around for sometime, but just hadn't gotten around to it. I think these guys are one of the more underrated bands in recent memory, having been accorded only modest commercial success and next to zero critical recognition. "George Best" and "Seamonsters" are probably two of my favorite albums of the past fifteen years. I had a harder time compiling this than almost any other single-artist mix that I've made.Feedback:
I agree with your assessment that these guys were terribly underrated. They've never had an alternative radio hit, even though they've released some incredible singles over the years. I think I have everything they've ever released. Have you heard their covers of the Cheers theme or Paul Revere and the Raider's "Him or Me"? There's also an EP of Smiths covers sung in Russian by a Wedding Present side project called the Ukranians, which unfortunately I've never heard.
Ohhh, the Weddos! Yes, criminally underrated.
very nice.
I just started to put together a 'best of' for myself and was having such trouble getting it down to one cd that I started doing some research on here. That's when I noticed that there are several already posted; all of which are very good, but this one is the closest to where mine was headed. I have to find a way to include "Mercury", though. (perfect title, too)
