Comment:

What do I really need to say about Hank Williams? Well, not much. I only wish that he didn't (quite literally) spawn two other Hank Williams(es?) that have tarnished the name so sufficiently that I have to qualify the statement "I like Hank Williams" with the word "SENIOR" attached to it. I wish that he would have lived longer to keep making unbelievably harrowing/uplifting music. Oh, and I wish that a million other songs could have fit onto this disc. I was contemplating using some demo versions of some of these tunes, but decided to keep things consistent with the released versions, which are all brilliant anyway...

I am with you on this one Rob. I don't care if Hank III hires everyone from Jesus Lizard he is still no Jason and The Nashville Scorchers.

Wow. Jason & the Scorchers. Impressive, Reverend/Papa... He's no Dan Stuart, Chuck Prophet, Sid Griffin or Jeffrey Lee Pierce, either. :-)

That's a nice selection of Hank tunes. It's a shame there aren't more to choose from.

The is only one Hank. Hank #2 and Hank III have answered the "hey dad (or granpop) can I have the keys to the act?" question with a solid NO!

I, personally, would have added "Lonesome Whistle," but every song on here deserves its place. What do you think of the new tribute album?

I think the new record has most certainly got its moments, ya know? I really like the Ryan Adams song, for one... I'm blanking out on the other stuff (I just dubbed the tunes in which I was interested from a friend)...

Hey Rob. While I would certainly agree with the general feeling about Hank # 2 (haven't heard much from III so I won't comment on him) versus his daddy, I have to say that Jr. put out some pretty good songs back in his heyday (i.e. before "Are you ready for some football..."). I heard some of his first Greatest Hits CD over at Borders today and I was reminded how much I like it, particularly "Family Tradition" and a few others.
