Comment:

A collection of Canadian songs and artists for my friend in England, to give him a feel for the music he's missing out on! He's heard so much about Canadian music, and wanted a feel for some of the greatest Canadian bands. A few of these bands I don't listen to so much anymore (Great Big Sea, SOTW), but they were once among my favourites and I would feel wrong in not including them here. My goal was to present him with a fairly diverse look at why I'm such a sucker for music from my country... only mistake was leaving out Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, due to time constraints on the tape. But they've been included on other tapes I'm sending him.

She's wonderful, I agree. Check out her old band Weeping Tile too - fantastic stuff!

I love seeing people appreciate the Canadian music scene. It has a lot to offer. Three of my favorites not on your list are The Tragically Hip, The Lowest of the Low, and Tegan and Sara. There are a couple here I've never heard of that I'll definitely seek out. Nice mix.

Oops. Here I am writing about my favorite Canadian bands while I listen to a Barenaked Ladies album and don't include them. Easily one of my favorites.
