Comment:

I'm a singer who sings mostly alternative rock stuff, and I've always been trying to figure out how to work my big country influences into my rock style. Maybe one day I'll get it - for now, I guess you could say I'm a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll. I'm probably the only person in the world who had a picture of PJ Harvey next to a picture of Shelby Lynne and Allison Moorer hanging next to her desk in her old dorm room. I just had to have that Kasey Chambers cover of Lucinda Williams "Changed the Locks" - man, that song rocks hard. P.S. My voice teacher at my old music school said my voice had a "natural country twang" - should I be embarrassed or impressed by that? Of course, that teacher wanted me to sing blues for the rest of my life - she heard my rendition of "At Last" by Etta James and almost pissed herself.

I don't know Emmylou Rawks ass. Have you ever checked out a band called Mary Prankster? You might dig her.

Have you listened to Ryan Adams or his old band Whiskeytown? Excellent rock/country roots.
