Comment:

this is digital (1100). a tape for kara, as a sort of peace offering because she said she found me "intimidating" at times. she thought i didn't like her, but it just turns out i'm naturally pretentious and aloof. the trembling blue stars track is from the new LP, which if you didn't get it yesterday when it came out, i honestly don't know what you are waiting for.

I'm waiting for them to make an album that I like, Brandt. ;-) Cool mix, though. Pretentious and aloof? YOU?!

This is lovely, Brandt. And I will buy the TBS cd - once the Aussie dollar goes up - I really can't afford to spend 40 or 50 bucks on it - that's what it'll cost on import, unfortunately.

rebekah's jaded : Yeah, I only like Belle And Sebastian, Yo La Tengo etc. as a means of gaining valuable indie cred...why would it be anything different than actually, y'know, LIKING music that's different, fresh and inspiring - unlike the dire corporate rock that litters your mixes. Feedback dooesn't have to be positive, I agree, but you could try saying something new for a change.

ignore rebekah's comment. i deleted this exact same comment from another mix of mine. i mean i am a pretentious intellectual asshole, it's true, but i'd rather be that than boring. actually it's hilarious because i rarely put YLT on mixes (i only own one record) and own no Neutral Milk Hotel. if rebekah would like a tape sometime, i'd love to make one for him/her just to show her that there is an alternative to corporate drek, but if he/she would rather insult people he/she doesn't know, that's cool too. although i doubt he/she would have the balls to do it in real life. petty people are like that you know.

on this whole little positive feedback tangent...i think nasty feedback (unless totally constructive) is better left unsaid. as my mum says "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". i liked this mix incidentelly Brandt

Think about it this way, flames are good for roasting hot dogs! I am not an indie person myself, but I can appreciate music nonetheless, even genres that I don't generally dabble in. Keep on mixing Brandt!

Not that I have anything good or bad to say but would interject this thought - if you can't say anything bad then you must only be allowed to say good things. If you are only allowed to say good things or playfully debate, then this site could be considered one big therapy session/feel good about your music and the place in this culture it sticks ya kind of thing. I appreciate Brandt's undying loyalty to music, a lot of which I consider silly - a lot of which I love, and we need more of him, but to take away (or to just not laugh off) critisisms seems out of line.

This is excellent. If you would ever like to trade, let me know (though I don't think my record collection is anywhere near as extensive as yours). I'm right now catching up on disks I owe Rob Conroy and lo-fi jr.
