Comment:
i kinda go back and forth on if i like this mix or not...its a departue from what i normal do and carries almost the same feeling as my last folk mix, anyway these are songs of stuggle and redemption. the rza cuts are off the Ghost Dog OST and the Peanut Butter Wolf track i edited out the intro ("do you know what i hate most....phonies..AMEN") because it didn't fit, so the track just starts with the slow drum beat. I'm aware that Exhaust is more post-rock than hip hop, but it works really well there (i edited the ending footsteps and silence out of it). i credit Hi Tek for the Respiration instrumental because he produced it, but its the same track off the blackstar record sans the raps (nothing against the track though, its my favourite on the record, i just wanted the feeling of the song, the essence if you will) i closed the mix with one of my favourite songs back in my school days, because it an up note, but at the same it almost a false happiness, because ice cube never escapes the problem of where he is at, but just that one day was a good day. Eyedea & Abilities along with illogic are my favourite newish emcess, though i placed a couple to many Eyedea & Abilities tracks on there...they work well and are really great.the title is the last line from Ellison's Invisible Man.
Feedback:
I like it. I really dig that PB Wolf cut and mostly everything else on here. I've never heard of Eyedea & Abilities but will have to check them out.
i can dig it.
Nice mix...I've always been sort of ambivalent about Sage Francis though. I used to live in Boston and never understood most of the backpacker hype about him. Dope mix though.
cool mix
